Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our dedicated and compassionate team! We are open to candidates who bring a strong technical background and a genuine passion for patient care. Fryeburg Veterinary Hospital is a 5-doctor AAHA-accredited practice located in Fryeburg, Maine. We care for dogs, cats, and some pocket pets. We offer a wide range of services, including soft tissue surgery, dental procedures, and ultrasound. We will also be incorporating laser therapy services in the near future. We recently grew our technology to include Scribe Note, a new artificial intelligence technology that records conversations with clients and turns them into veterinary medical documentation with just one click.   • Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian (DVM).
  • Maintain clear and accurate medical, client, and case records using appropriate terminology and grammar.
  • Review medical records, treatment estimates, and discharge instructions with clients, and respond to basic animal care inquiries, escalating medical questions to veterinarians as needed.
  • Guide and support medical support staff to ensure efficient shift operations and workflow.
  • Mentor team members to encourage career growth and personal development.
  • Provide input for 360-degree performance evaluations of employees.
  • Assist with client services including appointment scheduling, payments, check-in, and courteous phone communication.
  • Provide feedback and suggest improvements to training programs; participate in training sessions, job shadows, and working interviews.
  • Perform assigned cleaning, clinic upkeep, and equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Delegate cleaning or other duties during slow periods when a supervisor is unavailable.
  • Identify and address areas needing additional attention within the clinic environment.
  • Answer client inquiries confidently about routine procedures and animal care.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients to support patient care and hospital operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • Current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills including laboratory procedures, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental care, and nursing.
  • Ability to administer subcutaneous (SQ), intramuscular (IM), and intravenous (IV) injections.
  • Knowledge of commonly used veterinary medications including dosage, side effects, and client communication.
  • Understanding of anesthesia and patient recovery monitoring, with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient status.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful or fast-paced environments, including medical emergencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfort and confidence in handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
  • PTO - 40 hours, with additional PTO based on years of service.
  • Holiday Pay - 48 hours to apply towards 6 recognized holidays.
