About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery department in Midtown Manhattan! This position is eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus. Join our skilled surgical team and play a vital role in delivering advanced care to our patients. As a Surgery LVT, you'll assist with diagnostics like X-rays, ultrasound, and biopsies while supporting orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, ensuring each patient receives a tailored treatment plan. Responsibilities

Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Comfortable with medical math.
Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)
Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150.
Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year.
Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year.
Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
