About The Position
Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care in Huntington, NY is seeking an experienced and motivated Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to support an incoming board-certified surgeon in our high-volume veterinary surgery department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced specialty hospital performing advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. We are looking for a surgery-focused technician with strong anesthesia monitoring skills, surgical nursing experience, and confidence in client communication and medical record review. The Licensed Veterinary Technician – Surgery plays a critical role in perioperative patient care, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, and post-operative recovery in a busy specialty surgery service. This position requires advanced technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to support both surgical workflow and client education. Our ideal candidate is comfortable speaking with pet owners, reviewing surgical plans and records, and guiding clients through pre- and post-operative care.
Requirements
- Active New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential
- Proficient technical skills in anesthesia monitoring and recovery
- Strong knowledge of surgical nursing and aseptic technique
- Comfortable reviewing medical records and surgical plans
- Confident in client communication and education
- Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
- Ability to lift and restrain up to 50 lbs safely
Nice To Haves
- Surgery or specialty hospital experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for surgery including catheter placement, clipping, and aseptic prep
- Induce, monitor, and maintain anesthesia during surgical procedures
- Monitor patients closely during post-operative recovery
- Assist surgeon during soft tissue and orthopedic procedures
- Maintain surgical suite sterility and instrument readiness
- Review surgical medical records and treatment plans
- Communicate surgical instructions and updates to clients clearly and compassionately
- Provide client education on pre- and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate anesthesia and surgical records
- Ensure smooth surgical scheduling and case flow
