About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our thriving Surgery department in Midtown Manhattan! This position is eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus. As a Surgery LVT, you'll assist with diagnostics like X-rays, ultrasound, and biopsies while supporting orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, ensuring each patient receives a tailored treatment plan. Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential.
• Experience in anesthesia and surgical procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfortable with medical math.

Nice To Haves

• VTS credentialing.
• Experience with advanced anesthetic skills.
• Previous experience in a surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Monitor anesthesia, troubleshoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
• Perform intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
• Conduct physical exams; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Understand normal vital parameters and alert doctor when abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
• Expand knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
