About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a skilled Relief Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in Downtown Manhattan, NY. As a Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment. You will triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. You will perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients. You will have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. You will obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues. You will identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR. You will properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration. You will be proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels. You will place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters. You will have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers and have the patience and empathy to address client concerns.

Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician certification.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine, particularly in emergency and critical care.
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and digital radiography.
  • Strong understanding of medical math and medication administration.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.

  • Experience in mentoring and training.

Responsibilities
