About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA is hiring a Licensed Veterinary Technician. We are hiring Veterinary Technicians for our busy ER, Neurology & Oncology Departments! BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA would like to meet you! Our cases include complex medicine, surgeries, and emergencies. The ideal candidate’s skill level should include obtaining lab samples, placing catheters, administering SQ, IM and IV injections, and assisting in surgical procedures and emergencies. Job requirements also include restraining animals, cleaning kennels, maintaining instruments, and promoting outstanding customer service. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system. We offer a shift differential on nights and weekends as well as competitive pay with opportunities for growth! Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum. As a Veterinary Technician, you will: Drive excellence in patient care by exercising a high level of nursing skill. Maintain a solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations. Induce and maintain anesthesia for our Neurology patients during MRI scans and surgery. Utilize advanced technician skills such as placing urinary catheters, CRIs, placing NG tubes, blood transfusions, and hands free radiology. Obtain vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure, and collaborate with Veterinarian on abnormalities. Display a desire to provide outstanding service and exceed customer expectations. Perform and obtain diagnostics. Know commonly-used medications and associated side effects. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters. Show willingness to learn aspects of triage, outpatient, and inpatient care.

  • Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
