About The Position

We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician who will be responsible for patient care and client support for the Sports Medicine & Physical Rehabilitation Service (SMPR).

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA/CVTEA accredited institution approved by the NYS Department of Education with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • NYS licensure or eligibility to be licensed
  • Knowledge of basic infection control practices and the ability to adhere to and enforce those practices
  • Experience in the use of various disinfectants and proper procedures
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must communicate well with others in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often demanding environment, while paying close attention to details and demonstrating a high level of initiative
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including the ability to move/lift 50 lbs. or more with assistance, the ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to kneel and remain in a steady position during procedures or treatment of animals

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of experience as a licensed veterinary technician, familiar with sports medicine and physical rehabilitation

Responsibilities

  • Assisting veterinarians with the preparation and management of service flow
  • Client interaction, which includes handling, monitoring, and discharging patients
  • Provide instruction to veterinary students, interns and occasionally residents, in technical skills and procedures
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, students, and clinicians
  • Coordinate patient flow, assuring cases receive efficient, quality care throughout their entire visit
  • Assist with scheduling, set-up and completion of all nursing care and procedures needed by patients using auxiliary services throughout CUHA
