Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program preferred.
  • Must hold an LVT or be able to transfer an out of state license to Washington.
  • 6 months of veterinary experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to new situations.
  • Ability to act as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide for the patient’s needs in the ER and critical care department.
  • Participate in patient triage to maximize efficiency; provide client updates during triage.
  • Assist in patient stabilization including, but not limited to, IV catheter placement, drug/fluid therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Patient monitoring and document in medical record.
  • Perform diagnostics and treatments on patients presenting to Emergency Department.
  • Perform patient discharge and provide client education including, but not limited to home care instructions, medication information, and monitoring.
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia/sedation procedures.
  • Provide updates to pet owners on the status of their pet during duration of visit.
  • Maintain open and clear communications with members of patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
  • Technical skills including, but not limited to, IV catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, venipuncture, and safe restraint.
  • Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns.
  • Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance to hospital policy.
  • Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

  • $2/hr weekend differential for any work between 12 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
