About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Midtown, NY is seeking a skilled & compassionate Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our team. As a Discharge Veterinary Technician, you will organize and manage the discharges for the Emergency service and help facilitate discharges for other services when available. You will be comfortable discussing basic to intermediate discharge care instructions and facilitate client questions regarding post-operative care. The position offers a flexible schedule, preferably Tuesday to Thursday from 10 AM to 10 PM, or Monday to Thursday from 12 PM to 10 PM for those who prefer a 4-day work week. The pay ranges from $28.00 to $51.00 per hour, depending on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential.
• Experience in veterinary emergency care.
• Proficiency in performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters.
• Ability to calculate medical math and administer medications.
• Experience in monitoring anesthesia.

Nice To Haves

• VTS credentialing.
• Experience in mentoring and training staff.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage the discharges for the Emergency service.
• Facilitate discharges for other services when available.
• Discuss basic to intermediate discharge care instructions with clients.
• Assist ER team with triage of emergency cases.
• Obtain vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography as needed.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in stable patients.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
