About the position

East Ridge Animal Hospital in East Ridge, Tennessee, offers compassionate care for small animals and exotic pets. We provide a family-oriented experience and use the latest technology for endoscopic exams, including ear infections, sinuses, and gastrointestinal issues. Our services include vaccines, checkups, sick visits, boarding, digital radiology, diagnostics, dentistry, acupuncture, cold laser therapy, holistic treatments, and routine/advanced surgery. At East Ridge Animal Hospital, being part of a veterinary clinic is not just a job- it’s our passion! We're looking for a likeminded LVMT to join our team! East Ridge, located in Hamilton County, borders Chattanooga. Nearby attractions include Lake Winnipesaukee Amusement Park, offering rides for all ages, and Rock City atop Lookout Mountain, known for its stunning rock formations, gardens, and views. The Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is the site of two Civil War battles and features trails, visitor centers, and an archaeological site. Our hours of operation are: Mon-Fri: 7:30am-5:30pm, Sat: 8:00am-1:00pm, Sun: Closed.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management

Requirements

  • A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required
  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work Saturdays
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture, with additional skills in dental radiography being a plus
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in dental radiography
