U.S.VETS—the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending veteran homelessness—is seeking a Licensed Therapist to provide trauma-informed therapeutic services as part of our multidisciplinary clinical team. This role is vital in helping veterans experiencing homelessness address mental health challenges, recover from trauma, and achieve long-term stability. What You’ll Do As a Licensed Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care and leadership in a dynamic service environment. Responsibilities include:

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related human services field.
  • Active independent licensure in California (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience with evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, EMDR, Seeking Safety, Trauma-Informed Care).
  • Knowledge of military cultural competencies, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders.
  • Valid driver’s license; must meet company insurance requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or experience in Alcohol & Drug Counseling.
  • Experience with Medicaid assessments and billing.
  • Direct work experience with veterans and/or individuals experiencing homelessness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, EMDR, Seeking Safety, Trauma-Informed Care).
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to client needs.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and clinical support to veterans experiencing acute mental health or substance use challenges.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and electronic case notes in compliance with HIPAA and state regulations.
  • Coordinate care and collaborate with the VA, community providers, and other U.S.VETS program staff.
  • Facilitate therapeutic groups for substance use recovery, PTSD, and other veteran-centered needs.
  • Contribute to creating and maintaining a therapeutic living environment across programs.
  • Ensure clinical practices align with state licensure requirements, professional ethics, and program/grant standards.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and clinical support to case managers, interns, and program staff as needed.
