Licensed Therapist-Mental Health Deputy Co-Responder
About The Position
This position serves as the licensed behavioral health clinician with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office. This clinician responds to referrals as well as on scene calls in partnership with Collin County Mental Health Deputies and may work in environments with intensive crisis situations, require emergency services, and require long or irregular work hours. The licensed clinician identifies behavioral health needs, assesses for behavioral health crises, and coordinates access to appropriate treatment options based on least restrictive environment and in collaboration with the person, family/support system, and law enforcement. Assessment and treatment decision making will be based in person/family center approach, trauma informed care practices, and in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner. Key responsibilities include: assess and triage crisis situations in the community; follow person from crisis episode into appropriate care provide outreach and follow-up as assigned; submit monthly reporting following contract requirements; successfully complete all required training for both LifePath Systems and Collin County Sheriff’s office upon hire and annually; other duties as assigned to support program needs and partnership collaboration. Expectations include timely and thorough documentation, time management and organization skills, active collaboration with community partners, and strong teamwork abilities. Specific Targets: Ensuring documentation is completed concurrently and signed by the end of shift. Assigned follow ups are completed at appropriate intervals. Shift report is communicated at the end of each shift. 90% of full chart reviews score an 80 or higher. Attends monthly team meetings. In the event of unforeseen circumstances that require the use of Paid Time off, employees are expected to notify their supervisor within 4 hours of their regularly scheduled work time. Requirements
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field
- Full, unrestricted Texas license as Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); licensed associate or intern considered dependent on timeframe to full licensure.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in behavioral health crisis assessment and/or response
- Minimum 3 years’ clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use related issues
- Texas Driver’s License required
- Must undergo and pass a background check with Collin County Sheriff’s Office
- Ability to respond to stressful and high-pressure situations in a calm, solution-oriented manner
- Ability to maintain flexible work schedule to meet program needs, including late evenings and weekends
- Skilled in crisis intervention techniques and communication
- Ability to respond to individuals with patience, empathy, and understanding
- Ability to work within a team, both providing and receiving direction in a collaborative approach and taking initiative
- Ability to effectively communicate regarding behavioral health needs and services
- Ability to work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
- Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to guide staff in connecting individuals with appropriate services, including resources for those with housing instability
- Knowledge of the current version of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
- Knowledge of UM Guidelines, Texas Administrative Code, and Info Item V Standards
- Organized, detail oriented, computer proficient, and able to write clearly and professionally
- Possess the ability to think clearly and logically, to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations and utilize de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to assess individual’s needs, to coordinate services, to communicate effectively, and to train others.
