About The Position

The Lake Oswego School District is seeking licensed substitutes to fill in for teachers as needed. Licensed substitutes will be compensated at a daily rate of $228.00 for the current school year. Additionally, to attract and retain quality licensed substitute teachers, the district will pay an extra $10.00 per day ($1.25/hour) after a substitute teacher has worked 30 days or more in the current school year. For those on long-term assignments, the pay will increase to $250.00 per day. This position is ongoing and will remain open until filled.

Requirements

• Must have a valid Oregon teaching license issued by the TSPC to substitute teach in classrooms.
• Ability to verify identity and employment authorization.
• Provide proof of licensure and complete a pre-employment record check.

Responsibilities

• Follow and maintain the professional standards and expectations required of all licensed teachers in Oregon.
• Demonstrate effective communication with building personnel, students, and parents.
• Obtain room key, room location, lesson plans, and information regarding general building procedures from the designated representative.
• Implement lesson plans and daily routine information.
• Take attendance according to classroom and school procedures.
• Conduct the class in an orderly manner and manage student behavior in accordance with established policies and/or guidelines.
• Carry out the lessons according to the teacher's plans and follow the routines for the class.
• Follow procedures for collecting and grading of papers.
• Leave a brief summary of the work completed during the substitute assignment.
• Leave a record of work assigned to students and any assignments collected from students.

Benefits

• Daily rate of $228.00 for the current school year.
• Additional $10.00 per day after working 30 days in the current school year.
• Long-term substitute rate of $250.00 per day.
