About The Position

As a Licensed Solar Journeyman Electrician, you will perform inspection, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance on photovoltaic (PV) systems and related electrical equipment. This role is focused on hands-on electrical work, supporting operations and maintenance (O&M) activities across solar sites. You will be responsible for diagnosing electrical issues, performing testing, and completing repairs on PV systems, including DC and AC components, wiring, combiner boxes, disconnects, and balance of system equipment. Work is performed in accordance with established procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and compliance with OSHA and NFPA 70E standards. In this role, you’ll support both preventative and corrective maintenance, ensure systems are operating efficiently, and assist with general service work across solar installations. You may also provide guidance and support to junior team members in the field. Your day-to-day responsibilities include electrical troubleshooting, testing, and repair, as well as supporting broader system maintenance and site operations. This is a 100% travel position.

Requirements

  • Active Journeyman Electrician License required
  • 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience (solar farms / ground-mount systems)
  • Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems (NOT residential rooftop solar)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Experience with solar O&M / maintenance work
  • Working knowledge of OSHA / NFPA 70E safety standards
  • Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
  • 100% travel role (frequent travel to solar farm sites)
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust)
  • Must follow all OSHA and company safety requirements

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of PV systems, including wiring, combiner boxes, disconnects, and balance of system equipment
  • Perform electrical testing, including LOTO, insulation resistance (megger) testing, and infrared (IR) thermography
  • Support troubleshooting of solar system issues, including string-level and system-level faults
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on solar power plant equipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA and NFPA 70E standards
  • Lead by example in maintaining safety protocols and professionalism on-site
  • Complete required documentation, including work orders, service reports, and time logs
  • Operate company vehicle safely and in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain company vehicle and equipment in a clean, safe, and functional condition
