Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a comprehensive high school counseling curriculum focusing on academic, career, and personal/social domains.
  • Collect and review evaluative data to ensure the effectiveness of the counseling program linked to student academic progress.
  • Measure results of counseling program activities through data analysis and yearly audits, sharing results with key stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain an annual agreement and planning calendar in accordance with ASCA guidelines.
  • Advocate for the role of school counselor to the school and community in a professional manner.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
  • Systematically develop and evaluate student planning addressing academic goal setting and transition plans to post-secondary endeavors.
  • Inform students and parents about test results, academic programming, and intervention strategies for academic success.
  • Utilize assessment data and transcripts to determine student program placement and track graduation progress.
  • Conduct Success Plan meetings to determine students' post-secondary paths and provide advisement on learning opportunities.
  • Provide enrichment activities to prepare students for college and career plans.
  • Partner with community agencies to provide workplace learning opportunities.
  • Counsel students to promote self-awareness and self-advocacy.
