About The Position

The Private Client Banker (PCB) is an integral part of the Key Private Client Program, focusing on a holistic, plan-based approach to financial advice for clients. This role involves managing the entire client relationship and delivering or referring appropriate financial solutions to KeyBank's client base, specifically those with up to $2M in investable assets. PCBs are responsible for helping new and existing clients achieve financial confidence by assessing their needs, documenting client data, and offering suitable products and services. They identify client needs and make referrals to specialized sales professionals within Retail, Key Investment Services, Private Bank, Mortgage, or Business Banking. KeyBank emphasizes a commitment to helping clients advance their financial journey and providing dedicated service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals and building referral sources in insurance and investment products.
  • Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting and networking.
  • Interpersonal interaction skills and an ability to build rapport in matter of minutes is vital.
  • Demonstrated experience with influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, as this role will require significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals.
  • Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key.

  • Is knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment with clients and transactions.
  • Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations leading to recommendations that support clients’ financial wellness goals, leveraging system generated lead lists, walk-ins, and professional contacts.
  • Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Providing clients with expert advice on managing their finances, including investment strategies, retirement planning, and tax optimization.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions that enhance their financial well-being.
  • Evaluating the overall health of a client's financial situation, including their ability to manage day-to-day finances, save for the future, and protect against financial risks.
  • Actively identifying and developing new client relationships through prospecting and networking.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, providing personalized service to meet their financial needs.
  • Staying updated with market trends and analyzing market conditions to provide informed financial advice.

Responsibilities

  • Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations to clients.
  • Deliver on client solutions through referring of investment and insurance products.

  • Build a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence.
  • Employ a disciplined approach to prospecting; document calling efforts.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of private client products and services, as well as knowledge of competitive products and services to ensure meaningful in-depth financial wellness conversations with clients.
  • Open personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
  • Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners through in-person meetings– focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship of current clients.
  • Effectively manage internal and external centers of influence.
  • Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
  • Support of branch operations including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
  • Participate in and occasionally facilitate in-person morning huddles and end of day debriefs.
  • Work on Saturdays as directed by management.

Benefits

  • Compensation includes a base hourly rate in the range of $25.00 - $38.46 per hour.
  • Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
