About The Position

Preventive Services help keep children safe from abuse, neglect and maltreatment and help them remain at home and in their communities. We partner with at-risk families by assisting them to develop the skills to manage crisis and maintain safety and stability by offering a range of clinical and concrete services to help them thrive. Our culturally competent staff addresses the individual needs of the child, each family member residing with the child, and their social economic environment. Families are seen primarily in their homes and communities. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Social Worker Supervisor has full responsibility for the on-going clinical guidance of the clinical/case planner staff members. The Supervisor also provides on-going training and supervision to the clinical staff. The Supervisor may be called upon to perform any of the line functions normally performed by a social worker/case planner and is expected to be fully proficient in those areas. The Supervisor is familiar with all Preventive Service and Child Welfare Standards and functions as an internal resource on such matters.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy or a related subject area.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience in Child Welfare and/or Family Therapy.
  • Basic social work knowledge and understanding of stages of change
  • Ability to provide in home therapy and child welfare services
  • Ability to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with families.
  • Strong Assessment skills to evaluate dynamics and interactions within the family
  • Ability to Implement strategies to improve family communication and support
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office required
  • To perform the essential functions of this job the candidate must be able to travel within New York City carrying equipment such as a notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot and cell phone weighing up to approximately 10 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized experience with specific client population or specialty (domestic violence, substance abuse, community outreach, etc.) is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with the Connections system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to all clinical/case planning staff members.
  • Evaluates appropriateness of service plans (FASPs) and approves these based upon an understanding of any safety/risk concerns in the family and the service needs of the children and parents.
  • Facilitates weekly clinical case conference
  • Completes job performance evaluations and provides professional development support on a regular basis.
  • May supervise student interns.
  • Responsible for intake on new referrals.
  • Provides frequent and appropriate feedback to program stakeholders including ACS Child Protection
  • Understand ACS/OCFS electronic systems including PROMIS and CNNX
  • Provides all necessary notes, progress notes, other paperwork as required by ACS and JBFCS including entering monthly supervisory notes in CNNX for CWS cases and in the case record for ADVPO cases.
  • Cover for Director in his/her absence
  • Work a hybrid schedule based on program needs
  • Complete agency internal Incident Reports in Alltrac system.
  • Participate in Family Team Conferences (FTCs)
  • Other duties as assigned
