About the position

This is an Open & Continuous Announcement and will remain open until 02/11/2026 to fill current and future LPN - Long Term Care vacancies for various shifts at the Montrose and Castle Point Campuses. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be referred for consideration as vacancies become available. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work in a Long Term Care Unit at either the Montrose or Castle Point Campus. The LPN works under the supervision of an RN for the administration and evaluation of nursing care delivery to assigned Veterans. The LPN participates in the interdisciplinary team with the development, implementation and evaluation of the Veterans' treatment plan while utilizing Veteran centered care. Interacts with Veterans in various groups in accordance with the treatment plan; observes, identifies and responds to Veterans' needs for nursing, medication and equipment-assisted care. Must successfully and consistently demonstrate the exercise of independent technical judgment (without the need for readily available supervision) and possess a comprehensive and thorough working knowledge of the most complex or difficult practices and procedures within the LPN scope of nursing practice. The incumbent will also administer vaccinations, complete screenings, take vital signs, ensure delivery of excellent, safe, Veteran centered care, collaborate with various providers and registered nurses and comply with documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and evaluate nursing care delivery to assigned Veterans.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary team for the development, implementation, and evaluation of Veterans' treatment plans.
  • Interact with Veterans in various groups according to treatment plans.
  • Observe, identify, and respond to Veterans' needs for nursing, medication, and equipment-assisted care.
  • Demonstrate independent technical judgment in nursing practices.
  • Administer vaccinations and complete screenings.
  • Take vital signs and ensure delivery of safe, Veteran-centered care.
  • Collaborate with various providers and registered nurses.
  • Comply with documentation standards.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must pass a urinalysis drug test prior to appointment.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Must complete an online onboarding process.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
  • Participation in the COVID-19 vaccination program is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in long term care setting preferred.
