Job Summary: Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - Fremont Urgent Care Address: 1240 E 23rd St Fremont, NE 68025 Work Schedule: Thursday & Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, (16 hrs/week) Potential for extra hours Monday through Wednesday Occupational Medicine is not open on holidays or weekends Assists providers by reviewing records, preparing patients/exam rooms, providing patient education, scheduling, and handling prescription renewals/inquiries. Will also assist in the collection of drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment exams, DOT Physicals, and injury care.

Requirements

  • Degree in nursing required.
  • 2 years of medical/surgical experience required.
  • Current valid License Practical Nurse (LPN) license, valid compact multi-state license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Urine Specimen Collector Certification preferred.
  • Breath Alcohol Technician Certification preferred
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures required
  • Knowledge of medicine including recognizing and diagnosed diseases, deformities, and other illnesses.
  • Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Skill to proficiently type information into the computer to capture or detail information quickly.
  • Ability to provide caring patient care services when talking with patients
  • Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and information from providers to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems before they occur and avoid bigger problems in the future.
  • Ability to problem solve during several daily activities which includes the ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to coordinate care with referring providers for further injury care
  • Ability to coordinate with Workers Compensation Carriers for documentation needs
  • Ability to provide health education
  • Ability to manage crises/emergencies
  • Proficient level of experience with MS Office with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint for communication, and presentations.
  • Ability to organize, and perform multiple tasks, problem-solve, and prioritize work assignments to meet tight deadlines with little, or no supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year occupational health, emergency room, clinic, or school nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and Workers Compensation laws strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge of occupational health nursing, and provides appropriate nursing care to clients served by the Occupational Medicine Clinic.
  • Performs drug and alcohol testing according to protocol, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Provides follow-up care for a client involved in a blood/bodily fluid or contagious disease exposure.
  • Initiates action to correct, prevent, and/or minimize risk(s) to the client (i.e. injuries, needle punctures).
  • Provides excellent customer service to clients of companies who utilize Methodist Occupational Medicine or prospective clients.
  • Maintains a professional behavior in attitudes, demeanor, and interactions to achieve organization's mission.
  • Performs technical skills, and paperwork completely, and independently.
  • Provides appropriate care specific to the age of the client to ensure understanding, and comfort level of treatment as outlined in the Age Specific Criteria.
  • Promotes wellness activities for clients served by the department.
