About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team. Join our 2 East Medical/Surgical Recovery Unit, a 9-bed unit specializing in the care and recovery of patients following surgical procedures. Primarily serving an adult population, we also occasionally care for pediatric ENT patients, allowing for a broad range of clinical experiences.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required.
  • Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Service - Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members.
  • Medication Administration & Reporting - Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols.
  • Documentation - Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process.
  • Preparation - Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.
