Licensed Practical Nurse
About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse assists school nursing staff by performing routine health-related tasks to aid in the healthcare needs of students while under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Administers emergency first aid when necessary; May assist or self-direct students to take assigned medications per the school district policy; Follows established procedures for the care and reporting of injuries and illnesses and files accident reports and insurance claims; Assists school physicians and/or a nurse in physical, visual, auditory, and scoliosis examinations of students and employees and in making referrals to parents resulting from screening procedures and physical examinations; Selects, files, and records information on cumulative health records and reviews student records to obtain selected health information for use by school nurses; Performs attendance tasks and readmits students following absences; Assists school nurses in preparing health displays for the purpose of disseminating health and wellness information to students, staff, and the community; Maintains schedules for various screening and appraisal programs; Does related work as required.
Requirements
- Possession of a license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
