About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 100% (40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC North Dodge Neurology Clinic. This position will mainly support our Neurology Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective, ensuring an innovative, effective, and personalized approach, and diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem, uncertain about their neurological condition, experiencing neurological symptoms, or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic. For over 100 years, Iowa Healthcare’s primary focus has been the health and wellness of our patients. We provide care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health, on-site laboratory services, and more. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider
  • Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Previous Epic experience
  • Previous Neurology clinic experience
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
