About The Position

This requisition represents multiple Licensed Practical Nurse openings within the department. The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered 60 - 100% (24 - 40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC Clinics. These positions will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics, Internal Medicine Clinics, or Pediatrics Clinics, but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous Ambulatory Clinic experience.
  • Previous Family Medicine or Pediatrics experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous experience handling and processing lab specimens.
  • Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel. In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
