About The Position

B Positive is a blood plasma donation facility seeking an experienced LPN/Paramedic to join their growing team. The role involves selecting suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examinations and taking medical histories, ensuring compliance with FDA approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual, current State and Federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal company procedures. Responsibilities also include timely review of donor data for suitability, assisting with donor counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposures, providing care during donor reactions, and supporting employee training. The LPN/Paramedic will consult with the Medical/Laboratory Director as required and assist in other areas such as vitals, donor registration, lab processing, and phlebotomy. Reporting unsafe situations to a supervisor is mandatory, and the position may require travel up to 25 miles to other facilities for training or staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Current nursing (LPN)/Paramedic license in good standing for state applying for
  • Current CPR, BLS certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent, associates, bachelors degree, or above (must provide documentation)
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Basic proficiency in computer operations (Microsoft Word)
  • Legible handwriting
  • Customer service skills
  • Punctual, reliable, and have reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Selection of suitable plasmapheresis donors by performing physical examinations and taking medical histories on all donors, and through the use of FDA approved Standard Operating Procedure Manual (with particular detailed attention to communications related to AIDS information and plasmapheresis informed consent), current State and Federal guidelines, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, all internal company procedures and personal education and experience
  • Timely review of accumulated data to confirm established donor suitability, by reviewing and signing all SPE and RPR results and the related Donor Record File, documenting acceptance or rejection for the donor's continued participation in the program
  • Assist with management and administration of donor counseling, testing, and follow-up of employee exposures to blood or plasma
  • Provide appropriate and confidential counseling to unacceptable donors
  • Provide appropriate level of care during unusual and moderate to severe donor reactions
  • Assist in employee training as necessary
  • Consult with Medical/Laboratory Director as required by company policies
  • Assist in other areas when needed, such as vitals, donor registration, lab processing, phlebotomy (if applicable)
  • Report all unsafe situations or conditions to supervisor
  • Available to travel up to 25 miles to other facility(ies) for training or assisting other center's staffing needs
  • Other duties as assigned
