About The Position

Personalcare Registered Professional Nursing P.C. is seeking dedicated and hard-working Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for a part-time evening shift position in the medical department at the Jefferson County Jail in Watertown, NY. Nurses in this role will handle healthcare emergencies, conduct physical health assessments, perform initial screenings, manage medication distribution, conduct nurse sick calls, and run chronic care clinics. They will also assist physicians, psychiatrists, and dentists. The position includes a 2-week orientation period with on-the-job training and shadowing with nursing staff.

Requirements

Active LPN license in the state the facility is located
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Providing comprehensive nursing care while ensuring the proper flow of relevant information is disseminated to appropriate personnel.
Maintain, update and work with electronic medical records and ensure that they are secure.
Maintaining accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
Conducting sick call for patients and provide treatment illnesses and injuries, defined by written protocol and approved by Personalcare Registered Professional Nursing P.C. Medical Director.
Observing, reporting, and documenting symptoms, reactions and progress of inmates/patients and participate in the formulation of the plan of care.
Record, retrieve and file medical information in the inmate/patient medical record.
