About The Position

Job Title Code: LPN FLSA: Nonexempt Position Purpose The purpose of this position is to oversee, provide, and coordinate nursing care in compliance with facility policies and procedures and to evaluate residents’ care needs and take appropriate action. The Licensed Practical Nurse will care for ill, injured, or convalescing residents in the facility. The LPN may work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Supervisory Responsibility: None-may direct the work of CNAs, PCAs, and/or RAs on shift

  • Education: Associates degree in Nursing, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Experience performing the essential functions of the position is desirable.
  • Certification/License: Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing is required.
  • Candidates are required to attain and maintain CPR certification within 90 days after hire.
  • State background check standards must be maintained as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapters 435 and 408.809 and Florida Administrative Code 59A-35.090.

Responsibilities

  • Administers medications, noting times and amounts on residents’ charts.
  • Observes residents, charting and reporting changes in conditions such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment and takes necessary actions.
  • Answers residents’ calls and determines how to assist them.
  • Measures and records residents’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Provides basic resident care or treatments such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, l, massaging, or performing catheterizations.
  • Works as part of a health care team to evaluate resident needs, plans and modifies care, and implements interventions.
  • Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes, conferring with other health care team members.
  • Assembles and uses equipment such as catheters, or oxygen suppliers.
  • Assures resident safety through strict adherence to protocols, policies, and procedures, open communication with residents, supervisors, and coworkers, and careful observation of residents, equipment, and environmental conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
