Job Summary: Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - Millard Address: 5908 S. 142nd Street - Omaha , Ne Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours between 8am - 5pm Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists physicians by reviewing records, preparing patients/exam rooms, and handling prescription renewals/inquiries.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Previous Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/medical experience preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience required (Floor only).
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Current valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License, valid compact multistate license or temporary permit while awaiting licensure required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medicine including recognizing and diagnosed diseases, deformities, and other illnesses.
  • Skill to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Skill to proficiently type information into the computer to capture or detail information quickly.
  • Ability to provide caring patient care services when talking with patients and their family members.
  • Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and information from providers to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve problems before they occur and avoid bigger problems in the future.
  • Ability to problem solve during several daily activities which includes the ability to be flexible.
  • Ability to learn and proficiently navigate through computer programs that contain patient information.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff and patients.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions/directions.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the physician and other providers in the care and treatment of patients, including rooming the patient, communicating delays to patient, provider and team members, and facilitating the provider's schedule.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities with excellence, enthusiasm, great service orientation demonstrating courteous behaviors and mannerisms and by anticipating physician and other medical provider’s needs.
  • Practices within scope of practice perimeters as inferred by licensure, standard nursing practice, knowledge, and skill level.
  • Performs routine and specialized nursing procedures following physician's orders.
  • Assists physician with exams, treatments and minor surgery, by preparing patient and room for a specific procedure and attending patient during procedure.
  • Records info in patient's medical chart, e.g., patient's history, physical data, vital signs, symptoms, treatments, exams, meds administered.
  • Applies principles of infection control.
  • Checks patients into exam room. Obtains vital signs, medical history, chief complaint, and clinical assessment of patient condition.
  • Assists practitioner with minor surgical procedures and physical examinations.
  • Administers immunizations and vaccinations.
  • Thoroughly documents all necessary and pertinent patient information.
  • Assists practitioners with patient phone calls as per their instruction.
  • Observes and documents patient’s response to medications and/or treatments administered.
  • Provides courteous, efficient exchange of information over the telephone that meets the needs of the caller and creates caller satisfaction.
