About The Position

Licensed Practical Nurse Whitmer Health Center This is a full-time position following the assigned school districts school year and paid all year round. (Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm) The school year includes all working days for teachers, including remote work days, and is subject to potential modifications throughout the school year. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you’ll play a key role in supporting our providers and delivering excellent care through hands-on clinical tasks, patient education, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing accredited by National League of Nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • CPR – BLS (basic life support) required.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Computer experience desirable.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse group of people.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by position.

Nice To Haves

  • One to three years full-time experience in nursing practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects patient data through physical examination techniques, interview, and observation.
  • Documents all nursing care provided according to policy.
  • Formulates plan of care for clients under direction from providers.
  • Obtains referrals from other physicians and specialists.
  • Administers medications as prescribed by the provider.
  • Follows approved protocols/standing orders for client care.
  • Follow universal precautions.
  • Performs treatments, procedures as prescribed by the provider.
  • Performs technical skills.
  • Responds to client/family/caregiver needs.
  • Responds to crisis situations according to policy.
  • Utilizes client education for emotional and physical health maintenance.
  • Utilizes supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Performs clinic and outreach related tasks.
  • Utilizes on-going data collection skills.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with other members of the health care team.
  • Participates in planning and problem solving.
  • Participates in continuing education and professional growth.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, personnel, nursing, medical, and clerical policies and procedures.
  • Assists with seasonal programs as needed.
  • Assists other team members.
  • Performs nursing visits.
  • Completes patient health screenings including hearing, vision, and all CLIA waived testing.
  • Maintains stocks of medicines and medical supplies as necessary.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Performs patient education and discharge instructions.
  • Completes referrals and schedules tests for patients.
  • Adheres to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes reporting to the Board of Directors, Compliance Officer, Privacy Officer, supervisor or suggestion box, any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
