About The Position

If you are a certified Licensed Practical Nurse devoted to making a difference in the lives of young people, this is the role for you. We seek a great licensed healthcare professional who understands the vulnerabilities and medical needs of youth in a confined setting. Must love teams, embracing a demeanor of excellence and a firm understanding of DHHS licensing requirements. We’re looking for a dedicated nurse to join our small, close-knit clinic team located in our secure juvenile residential facility. This isn’t your typical nursing job—it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, where your care and commitment can truly change lives. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) cares for ill, injured, or convalescing youth in our highly secure juvenile detention and long-term treatment facilities. The LPN works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Measures and records patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Works as part of a health care team to assess patient needs, plan, modify care, and implement interventions. We at Spectrum believe dignity and respect are simple human gifts. We believe they belong to everyone. Since 1976, Spectrum has worked to strengthen children, families, and communities across Michigan. The LPN administers medications, observes patients, charts, and reports changes in conditions such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and takes necessary actions to resolve these issues. Spectrum Juvenile Justice Services utilizes the Forward Focused Treatment Model©, the first evidence-based clinical treatment program developed specifically for adolescents with serious offending behaviors. The cognitive-behavioral treatment model is based on current research in adolescent brain development and juvenile justice treatment and includes trauma-focused assessment and treatment. Treatment is guided by a developmentally informed conceptualization of each youth’s risks and needs and utilizes a multi-modal and multi-pronged approach to treatment.
