About The Position

We are looking for passionate and dedicated licensed practical nurses (LPN) to join our team. Responsibilities of the LPN role include: Providing direct care duties under the delegation of a registered nurse or nurse manager. Monitoring the nursing care provided by professional and ancillary nursing personnel. Assisting the registered nurse with data collection in collaboration with the resident, family and/r significant others and the interdisciplinary health care team to meet the care, educational and discharge needs. Adhering to Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and Nurse Practice Act. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program).
  • If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
  • License / Certification Active Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Active Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers Certification (must come from one of the following providers: American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network).
  • All required documents must be attached to your application for consideration: CV/Resume Cover Letter Internal candidates must also attach their three most recent performance appraisals. Internal candidates who have not met their current department's 1- or 2-year commitment, must attach an early release from their current supervisor.
  • International Degrees: A detailed equivalency evaluation is required, demonstrating a U.S. equivalent degree. Evaluation must be completed by an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) (www.naces.org) or the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) (www.aice-eval.org).

Nice To Haves

  • One year of work experience in Long Term Care or Home Health or two years of acute care nursing is preferred.
  • Must be able to work in collaboration with others.
  • Requires good communication and human relation skills to interact with Health Service and Charter House staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are necessary with the ability to collect, compare, sort and prioritize information to be used in the decision-making process for groups of resident and employees.
  • Must be able to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress.
  • Works flexible hours which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
