Requirements

Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs (temperature, heart rate, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and weight)
• Insert saline locks
• Perform both basic and advanced cardiac life support
• Apply sterile dressings
• Remove sutures or staples
• Assist with pelvic examinations
• Perform EKGs
• Cleanse and irrigate wounds
• Administer oral medications
• Apply various splints (volar, thumb Spica, ulnar gutter, posterior leg splints)
• Initiate routine lab tests
• Swab mucous membranes for cultures
• Administer and read TB skin tests
• Perform venipuncture
• Give medications via intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous, and intradermal routes
• Flexibility for cross-training and handling tasks outside the usual scope is required.
