About The Position

Since its founding in 1985, Queen of Peace Center (QOPC) has been providing family-centered behavioral healthcare for women, children, and families. As a member of the Federation of Catholic Charities, we serve the metropolitan and surrounding St. Louis area through four core programs: prevention, education, treatment, and housing. POSITION SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) provides skilled nursing care and performs clinical tasks that support the overall health and well-being of both inpatient and outpatient clients. Services are delivered in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive nursing assessments and administering substance use–related evaluations, such as the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) and Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol (CIWA-Ar), along with other appropriate screening tools.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
  • Experience in and/or interest in substance use prevention and treatment preferred
  • Knowledge of ASAM Levels of Care preferred
  • Must successfully complete background checks, including criminal history, abuse/neglect screening, and drug screening
  • Experience administering and interpreting withdrawal and clinical screening tools, including COWS (Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale) and CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment).
  • Working knowledge of substance use disorders, including evidence-based treatment approaches, detoxification protocols, and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) preferred.
  • Experience working in a residential treatment setting preferred, with a strong emphasis on substance use disorder and/or behavioral health populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent clinical judgment while collaborating within a close-knit, multidisciplinary team of dedicated healthcare providers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, families, and clinical staff.
  • Proficient in performing comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and promptly document nursing assessments and client medical histories.
  • Monitor client health status during services and throughout care.
  • Assess client needs and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Coordinate care with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) providers and complete assessments as needed.
  • Document all client interactions in the agency’s electronic health record (EHR) system, maintaining a minimum of 6 hours of documentation daily, including but not limited to:   Adult health histories, Updated medication lists, Intake assessments, and Assistance with scheduling appointments (e.g., primary care, GYN).
  • Provide care for up to 24 adult residential clients (and children, as applicable) and conduct metabolic screenings for outpatient clients.
  • Educate clients and staff on MAT, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Support medical screening processes and medication management.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
  • Monitor and record vital signs as required.
  • Adhere to medication administration policies and collaborate with staff to ensure accurate and compliant documentation.
  • Complete daily progress notes for each client in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Screen and monitor clients undergoing detoxification.
  • Observe and document medication side effects.
  • Review medication administration records (MARs/eMARs) for accuracy.
  • Maintain active RN licensure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
