The University of Virginia’s Medical Services, a unit within the Department of Student Health and Wellness, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are responsible for carrying outpatient care in accordance with licensed independent practitioner’s orders, under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse in charge. They administer ordered medications and treatments, observe and record effects of medications, and observe and report patient reactions to treatments or any unusual conditions. Work is largely routine and done according to established protocols, with some supervision. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), nonexempt level, benefited position. Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
