Requirements

  • Education: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa.
  • License(s)/Certification(s): Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain NIHSS education prior to end of orientation and complete every 2 years
  • Completion of eight hours of strokeeducation prior to the end of orientation and annually
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Microsoft Office – basic computer skills.
  • Customer/patient focused.
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direction and supervision of unlicensed assistive personnel (i.e. Patient Care Technician), demonstrates clinical judgment appropriate for Iowa’s LPN scope of practice, uses problem solving techniques and time-management principles, and delegates appropriately.
  • Assists in creating a positive work environment by working with team members to develop and facilitate initiatives to strive for positive outcomes in quality and care of patients.
  • Effectively communicates with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff and all customers.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures, and guides team members with compliance .
  • Maintains a safe and clean environm Complies with all safety goals, infection prevention and risk management policies and procedures.
