About The Position

NaphCare is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their team of medical professionals in Montgomery, AL, at the Montgomery Women's Facility. This role involves managing all aspects of healthcare for incarcerated individuals. As a Correctional Nurse, the LPN will collaborate with correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Duties will include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This unique position offers the opportunity to make a difference for a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. The LPN will play a critical role in delivering quality healthcare that upholds the rights, dignity, and health of this patient population.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Actively state-certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
  • Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
  • Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
  • Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
  • Observing patient health and mental health status
  • Providing emergency first aid
  • Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
