Join our 7 South team at UPMC as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You will provide care and IV therapy following UPMC guidelines and State Board Regulations, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed UPMC provider in med/surg/tele or Emergency Department settings. This is a casual (PRN) position that will be required to work at least 36 hours every 6 weeks. 7 South is a telemetry medical-surgical unit that specializes in respiratory distress, COPD, heart failure, and post-op including ENT, watchman devices, urological, and gynecological procedures. Responsibilities: Patient Care: Exercise sound nursing judgment based on your preparation, knowledge, and experience. Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care using focused assessment. Act within LPN Practice guidelines, including IVs, to create a healing environment. Formulate daily goals and care plans for patients, considering their individual needs. Communicate patient conditions to other care providers and ensure comprehensive documentation. Provide patient and family education for effective care transitions. Collaboration and Communication: Seek guidance from a licensed professional nurse when patient care needs exceed your scope of practice or ability. Collaborate with the health care team to achieve desired patient outcomes. Build compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Maintain productive working relationships and demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment. Understand cultural differences and promote healthy relationships. Professional Development: Follow UPMC policies, guidelines, and the State Practice Act. Support the orientation and development of new LPNs and patient care staff. Continuously seek feedback and opportunities for professional improvement. Participate in organizational programs and identify process improvement opportunities. Improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction by incorporating professional and organizational goals.
