About The Position

The Urology Practice LPN utilizes nursing processes under the direction of the provider to provide urology care. Responsible for specimen labeling, test performance, and for reporting test results. Provides excellent patient focused clinical care. Monitor’s patient conditions and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice. Prepares patient for physical examination. Explains procedure, treatments, and nursing care to patients and when necessary to significant others. Answers phone calls according to proper protocol provided by MUSC. Utilizes nursing process under the direction of the RN to deliver patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduation from accredited school of nursing.
  • Current LPN license in the state of South Carolina.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

  • Ability to perform more complex math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) to include calculating percentages, averages, volume, ratio and interpreting graphs - using numbers, money and units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience is preferred as a LPN in a hospital, clinic or medical setting but is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care according to established policies and procedures under the direction of a RN.
  • Administers medication, performs reassessments, takes histories, starts IVs, dresses wounds and assists in activities of daily living.
  • Documents in the medical record, findings and information.
  • Communicate appropriate medical and clinical information to the staff as required.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit care data.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for specimen labeling, test performance, and for reporting test results.
