About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduated an accredited school of Practical Nursing
  • Current New York State Practical Nurse License, a Limited Permit, or ability to practice within the 90 day grace period allowed by New York State guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with procedures, always within the LPN scope of practice and under supervision when required
  • Administer medications safely and accurately, utilizing knowledge of pharmacology and following UHS policies and current clinical standards
  • Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management strategies, as directed by a provider or registered nurse
  • Support and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, and infection control protocols
  • Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing, including quality control procedures, documentation, and participation in tri-annual AAFP proficiency testing
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system to support patient safety and care coordination
  • Participate in department-specific credentialing and lab validations as required by practice standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with providers, RNs, and the broader care team to coordinate patient care and promote positive health outcomes
  • Assist with front office functions such as scheduling, patient intake, and communication of clinical instructions when appropriate
  • Actively engage in Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives by reviewing data, offering feedback, and implementing changes to enhance care quality
  • Maintain clinical competency by participating in ongoing training, in-services, and educational opportunities
  • Uphold a culture of patient-centered care by contributing to a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all individuals
