Position Overview The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists with daily clinical activities under the supervision of a physician, Registered Nurse, and/or Nurse Practitioner providing primary care services. This role supports safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical operations while modeling behavior consistent with West Cancer Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved vocational nursing program.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse with a current license to practice in the state of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (required for all new hires and transfers).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work tactfully and professionally with patients, families, and physicians.
  • Ability to initiate patient visits with appropriate greeting and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in EMR navigation and documentation, including reviewing computer reports using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with established patient care guidelines, clinic policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of patient rights and confidentiality standards and adhere to communication policies appropriate to age-specific populations.
  • Accurately obtain, organize, and record necessary patient data.
  • Update patient records based on clinical information from physicians and nurse practitioners, including lab results and other documentation.
  • Assist physicians, RNs, and nurse practitioners with procedures as needed.
  • Perform day-to-day clinical operations under appropriate supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients and staff.
