About The Position

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS), a nonprofit founded in 1943, has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community mental health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. We provide state-of-the-art programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds each year. We are currently seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in our outpatient mental health clinic in Yonkers, NY. This is a  full-time, hybrid position offering a competitive salary range of $55,000-$65,000, and the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven, collaborative, and supportive team.

Requirements

  • Experience working in mental health/psychiatric settings.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
  • Sufficient computer skills to complete necessary job functions and use electronic health record system.
  • Ability to travel to clinic locations where assigned to work.
  • Competency and comfort in conducting observed urine testing is necessary.
  • Valid NYS LPN license.
  • Infection Control Coursework complete approved by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) – must renew every 4 years or qualify for an exemption with the NYSED; may submit LPN diploma instead if completed LPN training program within the past 4 years.

Responsibilities

  • Take vital signs and complete general health monitoring.
  • Screen for psychiatric, substance abuse, and medical problems.
  • Collect breathalyzer test results and urine drug screens, including observed urine testing.
  • Administer medications delivered through intramuscular injections.
  • Complete prior authorizations for specific medications when prescribed.
  • Check prescription monitoring program for all scheduled appointments with psychiatric staff.
  • Keep electronic health record up to date with lab results and medical reports from outside facilities.
  • Receive and manage medication refill requests.
  • Assist with telepsychiatry.
  • Assist with scheduling psychiatric appointments as needed.
  • Coordinate care with outside pharmacies and providers.
  • Assist in referring clients to primary care providers.
  • Obtain copies of physical exams from primary care providers and keep up to date at least annually for patients.
  • Maintain nursing supplies.
