About The Position

At Skin and Aesthetics, our Mohs Surgical Technicians are essential members of our dermatologic surgery team, providing hands-on clinical support during Mohs micrographic surgery procedures. This role requires a skilled professional with direct surgical experience who can assist the Mohs surgeon throughout all stages of the procedure—from patient preparation through tissue processing and wound closure. This position requires regular travel between our Jackson, West Deptford, and Galloway, NJ locations. You must have reliable transportation and be comfortable commuting to all three sites on a rotating basis. This is a non-negotiable requirement of the role. Travel Expense is Covered. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Surgical experience required – background in Mohs surgery, dermatologic surgery, or other surgical settings
  • LPNs and MAs with surgical experience encouraged to apply
  • BLS certification required
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and wound care
  • Proficient with EMR systems
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with frozen section histology and tissue processing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Surgical Assistance – Prepare patients for Mohs surgery; assist the surgeon during excisions, hemostasis, and wound closures; perform suturing, wound care, and dressing applications under physician supervision; prepare and maintain the sterile field throughout procedures.
  • Histology Support – Prepare, process, and stain tissue specimens; embed and section frozen tissue samples; ensure accurate labeling and mapping of specimens for physician review.
  • Patient Care – Greet and escort patients to procedure rooms; explain the surgical process and post-operative care instructions; perform dressing changes, suture removal, and follow-up wound assessments; respond to patient questions regarding their procedures and recovery.
  • Medical Records – Update and maintain EMRs; document procedure notes, specimen details, and patient communications accurately.
  • Supplies & Sterile Environment – Sterilize instruments and maintain strict infection control protocols; dispose of contaminated materials and biohazard waste properly; restock surgical suites and manage supply inventory.
  • Compliance – Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and clinical safety regulations; maintain quality assurance standards for laboratory and surgical procedures.
