About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at WellSpan Medical Group plays a crucial role in providing patient care as part of a healthcare team. This position involves performing screenings, assisting in patient care planning and implementation, and serving as a nursing resource for clinical staff. The LPN will work in accordance with Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing regulations and may operate in various settings including onsite, hybrid, or remote. The role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and a commitment to patient education and safety.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate's Degree from an accredited LPN program.
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse license upon hire or multi-state license.
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hyperbaric medicine or willingness to take a 40-hour introductory course for Hyperbaric Medicine.
  • Advanced communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history and gathers information.
  • Performs specialized procedures, examinations, and tests as ordered, such as urinary catheterization and IV insertion.
  • Ensures patient care areas are stocked with unexpired supplies and medications.
  • Sterilizes instruments and assesses their sterility.
  • Facilitates communication between the provider and the patient.
  • Reinforces health education and counseling to patients and families.
  • Evaluates patient's health status and directs them to appropriate care.
  • Tracks and monitors follow-up of diagnostic test results.
  • Assists in managing patient utilization of the healthcare system.
  • Completes necessary paperwork and scheduling for diagnostic services.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Documents and processes prescription requests and refills.
