About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Telehealth Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for providing quality healthcare and exceptional customer service to veterans. This role involves managing patient care, utilizing telehealth technologies, and ensuring a safe clinical environment. The LPN will work closely with healthcare teams to deliver care, support telehealth operations, and maintain high standards of nursing practice.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States.
  • Graduation from a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate state agency or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of Specialty Care Clinic experience.
  • Medical Administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient care problems and deviations using self-direction according to VA Nursing Practice and LPN licensure standards.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill to care for a wide range of patients, including those with chronic and acute illnesses.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of disease conditions, nursing principles, and standards/practices to coordinate nursing care in the clinic setting.
  • Develop and provide reporting procedures that identify and analyze weaknesses in telehealth procedures.
  • Coordinate with Biomed and IT staff for the installation and upgrade of telehealth technologies.
  • Provide advanced telehealth technical support to patients, staff, and providers.
  • Instruct and train patients, staff, and providers on the use of telehealth technologies for care delivery.
  • Serve as an imager and data manager for store and forward telehealth clinical encounters.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered safely by following cleaning procedures for clinical equipment and care environments.
  • Schedule requests for telehealth appointments using an electronic resource-based scheduling system.
  • Monitor and maintain schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, and clinical providers.
