About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) II in the ICU is a professional caregiver responsible for providing comprehensive care to critically ill patients. This role involves assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring that the needs of patients and their families are met through effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN II is expected to demonstrate clinical expertise, uphold patient rights, and participate in ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • One year recent experience in Critical Care or completion of a KP Critical Care Training Program within the last 12 months.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program with required clinical experience hours.
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
  • Commitment to service orientation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Critical Care course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessment/data collection systematically focusing on various patient statuses.
  • Formulate a goal-directed plan of care when appropriate.
  • Implement care consistently and thoroughly.
  • Establish patient care priorities based on needs and available resources.
  • Identify and address patient/family learning needs.
  • Demonstrate awareness of patient/family rights and cultural beliefs.
  • Provide and coordinate care for patients and populations.
  • Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members appropriately.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by the healthcare team.
  • Utilize effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles in patient care.
  • Perform efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols.
  • Demonstrate accountability for professional practice.
  • Participate in staff development activities regularly.
  • Understand legal issues related to patient care and confidentiality.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities as directed.
  • Participate in nursing research activities as requested.
  • Identify and solve problems effectively.
  • Demonstrate a service philosophy in all interactions.
  • Provide data for staffing decisions and show flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using computers and telecommunication for documentation.
