About The Position

Under supervision of a physician or registered nurse, participates in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of delivery of care. Under medical model, assists physician in providing prescribed care or treatment to patient. (In units using medical model, patient assessments, plan of care, and discharge plan are performed by a physician or physician extender.) Requirements

  • Two years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program and satisfactory completion of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta intravenous medication competency check
  • Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Minimum commitment for the PRN role is 72 hours within each 6-week period

Responsibilities

  • Assists licensed professional personnel in providing care to patients and families, incorporating age-related and developmental needs.
  • Participates in meeting patient/family educational needs.
  • Participates in providing discharge instructions as delegated by licensed professional practitioners.
  • Maintains professional development.
  • Supports department performance improvement process.
  • Assists in maintaining departmental budget within established fiscal guidelines.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N = Neonate (less than 30 days), I = Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-17 years), AD = Adult, and ALL = all ages.
