About The Position

The position involves performing screening to determine the appropriate avenue for patient care and functions as a member of the healthcare team at an intermediate nursing level. The role includes assisting in the planning and implementation of patient care based on sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills, and experience. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the provisions of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Additionally, the position serves as a nursing resource for clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Diploma Program Certificate of completion from an accredited LPN program or Associate's Degree.
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Registered Nurse upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Hyperbaric Medicine and willingness to take a 40-hour face-to-face Introductory Course for Hyperbaric Medicine.
  • Experience in wound care management.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history and gathers information.
  • Performs specialized procedures, examinations and/or tests as ordered, such as urinary catheterization and insertion of intravenous lines (IV).
  • Ensures all patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired supplies and medications.
  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies as required.
  • Handles and stores instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately.
  • Assesses sterility of instruments and ensures they are intact.
  • Relays information and facilitates communication between the provider and the patient.
  • Reinforces health education, counseling, and advice to patients and families on healthy lifestyle changes in collaboration with Physician/APP.
  • Effectively assesses patient educational needs and identifies barriers to learning.
  • Evaluates patient's/caller's health status based on presenting symptoms and follows defined protocols.
  • Determines the urgency for care and directs patient/caller to the most appropriate level of care.
  • Tracks, reviews, and monitors the follow-up of diagnostic test results to ensure verification and notification to the patient.
  • Provides education, counseling, and ongoing review regarding diagnostic tests under the collaboration of the Physician/APP.
  • Assists in the management of patient care between visits and utilization of the healthcare system.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, and scheduling of appointments for diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Maintains patient records for accurate documentation of medical treatment.
  • Documents and processes prescription requests and refills per Physician/APP order and policy.
