About The Position

Prepares surgical set-up for procedure; observes and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during the procedure; functions within a sterile field; accepts call as scheduled; accepts additional duties as needed. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Hr. (5x8 hrs. or 4x10 hrs.) Call Shift: This position does have call requirements that are subject to staffing needs.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited Practical Nurse program.
• Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required OR Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program and a minimum of one year of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• The Level II practitioner demonstrates a higher level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills and has met the Level I Certified Surgical Technologist criteria.
• Credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (formerly LCC-ST) required and must be maintained.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required

Responsibilities

• Drapes patients for surgical procedures and assist the surgical team during operative procedure.
• Cleans and prepared rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
• Maintains and cares for equipment supplies.
• Documents maintenance and repairs and troubleshoot equipment needs when necessary.
• Performs assisting duties within the scope of a practicing LPN/ CST Level I.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
