The Dental Officer Series 0680 position requires applicants to have sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the role. This includes both paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work through National Service programs. Applicants must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in each position held, along with the total number of hours worked per week. A positive education requirement is in place, necessitating the submission of transcripts or a detailed education history. Official transcripts are required after tentative selection and prior to issuing an official job offer.

  • Evaluate, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
  • Perform dental procedures such as removal of decay, filling cavities, straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth.
  • Treat gum diseases and perform corrective surgery.
  • Make measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth.
  • Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions.
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Passed the National Board of Dental Surgery (NBDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry.
  • Ability to distinguish shades of color.
  • For GS-12 level, completion of a 2-year residency program in dentistry or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in making radiographic examinations of the oral cavity.
  • Ability to diagnose pathological or irregular conditions.
  • Experience in administering local anesthesia and performing complex restorations.
