About The Position

UPMC is currently hiring a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our outpatient Family Medicine and Pediatrics office on Pine Street in Williamsport. This position is primarily Monday-Friday, with Saturday mornings covered on a rotation by all office staff. A typical Monday - Friday work week consists of 4 day shifts (as scheduled between 7:00am - 5:00pm) and 1 evening shift (10:00am - 7:00pm). When scheduled to cover Saturday morning (4hrs: 8:00am - 12:00pm) you will have a half day during the week. Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
  • Act 33 with renewal.
  • Act 34 with renewal.
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required based on AHA standards within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
  • Administer medications including oral, subcutaneous (SQ), and intramuscular (IM).
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Complete and submit prior authorization paperwork for medications, procedures, and referrals in accordance with insurance requirements.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing patient phone calls, addressing clinical questions, relaying provider instructions, and coordinating follow-up care.
  • Monitor and respond to task basket messages in the electronic medical record system, ensuring timely resolution of patient and provider requests.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.
