About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at WellSpan Health in Lebanon, PA, is responsible for performing screenings to determine the appropriate care for patients. This role functions at an intermediate nursing level, assisting in the planning and implementation of patient care based on sound nursing judgment, clinical preparation, knowledge, skills, and experience. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing regulations. The LPN also serves as a nursing resource for clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Diploma Program Certificate of completion from an accredited LPN program or Associate's Degree Certificate of completion from an accredited LPN program.
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse upon hire or Licensed Practical Nurse Multi State License upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history and gathers information.
  • Performs specialized procedures, examinations and/or tests as ordered, such as urinary catheterization and insertion of intravenous lines (IV).
  • Ensures all patient care areas are adequately stocked with unexpired supplies and medications.
  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies as required.
  • Relays information and facilitates communication between the provider and the patient.
  • Reinforces health education, counseling, and advice to patients and families.
  • Evaluates patient's/caller's health status based on presenting symptoms and follows defined protocols.
  • Tracks, reviews, and monitors the follow-up of diagnostic test results.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, and scheduling of appointments.
  • Maintains patient records to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Documents and processes prescription requests and refills.
  • Assists in Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Wound Care as needed.
